On a regular day at NASCAR, one can only find a handful of drivers more hungry to win than Kyle Busch. The former Joe Gibbs Racing ace is one of the grid’s most skilled and competitive drivers. Coming into NASCAR as a full-time driver at the young age of 18, he has earned his place as a legend of the sport. The 2015 and 2019 Cup Series winner made a return to NASCAR earlier this season with Richard Childress Racing, severing his 15-year-long ties with JGR.

But the move has proved to be somewhat fruitful so far. Busch in a recent interview with GO TrackHopper reveals that they were not expecting to make a stunning start at Fontana with his comeback to RCR. Not just that, he has got some big words for Talladega as well.

Busch led the events on 24 April as he raced his way to win at the Talladega Superspeedway. Beating Ryan Blaney to the checkered, Busch asserted his dominance on the track setting his record straight. Well, Busch is most definitely more attracted to winning and has kept doing it since his introduction. One of the more notable questions from Busch’s interview revolves around the same question as he is asked,

“Kyle just kind of following off on that, wit the move over to RCR did you feel maybe success came a little quicker? That you know it might be more of a longer of an adjustment period than it actually was.”

Busch who has already found himself making two returns to the Cup Series since the start of his career, replies, ” Definitely. No question. I mean you can just pinpoint Fontana. We won the second third race out whatever it was and I had no idea, no concept that we would even be that good that early but uh the guys had a great program built off of last year with Tyler and we were able to do this or run the same or just as fast as he did and come out with the win at Fontana. So, that definitely came a lot earlier than I expected.”

Earlier this season in Fontana’s last race as a Cup Series venue, Busch ran it back for Richard Childress Racing marking his first win for the legendary team and a 61st win of his career. Busch will still have fresh memories of being discarded from Fontana in 2001 since he was 16 at that time and under the age limit to run in a race sponsored by Marlboro.

“But then some of the other runs that we’ve had this year have been about how I expected and then you know we’ve been able to win at Talladega that’s kind of crapshoot so I don’t really count that one.said Kyle coming back to the win at Talladega. Talladega was the second win of the season for Busch after Fontana. Does not look like he wanted to retire at all.

Kyle Busch at Richard Childress Racing might have seemed like a mismatch sometime ago. But as the dust has settled down, things are looking good for the team. But things were not always good between the two entourages. Grandson Austin Dillon was the key factor in getting Busch to RCR, as he convinced his grandfather to forget the 2011 altercation between Childress and Busch which even led to a $150,000 fine for the owner.

Talking about the steady growth within a positive atmosphere, Busch says, “We backed up our Fontana performance with a Gateway performance and we were able to win there. You know, two wins this far end of the year. I feel like it’s very respectable with a new team and you know I’d love to see us be able to score you know maybe three or four more wins before the end of the year.”

After winning the race at Talladega, Busch was not short on words to describe his win. Well, of course a Rowdy speech rotates around disrespect, arrogance and self-belief. Speaking to Yahoo Sports, he said,

“They didn’t think that Kyle Busch was washed up or anything like that,”

“It was really a breath of fresh air to get over there and get to work. Trust me, I’ve probably done more, worked harder in this year than I have in the last four — just because of feeling like it’s my duty, it’s my service to them to give them everything that I’ve got, absolutely everything that I’ve got, for them sticking their neck out for me at RCR.”
