Chase Elliott‘s recent snowboarding injury has triggered a massive debate if the drivers should put themselves at risk of injury while performing off-track activities. The 2020 Cup Series champ fractured his tibia while snowboarding in Colorado days before the race in Las Vegas and is likely to be sidelined for at least six weeks. Amid the debate of what drivers should and should not do, Tyler Reddick took a slight dig at Chase Elliott while sharing if the Hendrick Motorsports driver should receive a waiver or not.
Tyler Reddick recently appeared on The Dale Jr. Download podcast alongside co-hosts Dale Earnhardt Jr and Mike Davis. The 23 XI Racing driver reckoned that he had been quite careless in his approach to shield himself from injuries earlier in his NASCAR career and made some poor decisions. However, he has made a major change in his approach in recent years.

In a recent edition of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, Tyler Reddick shared that he had never been quite an expert at snowboarding. However, the #45 Toyota driver suggested that he had seen a lot of snowboarding videos. Reddick continued, “It’s intense, you know, you have to be locked in. At any time, you can kinda almost train your brain or train your mental awareness, and being able to find that zone and get locked in”
Moreover, while talking about his off-track activities, the 27-year-old told that he had been able to train his brain and stay focused as a result of trail running. He also laid out how careful and focused one needs to be while doing intense activities like mountain biking, as slight errors could lead to grave injuries.
Further, Reddick also took a slight dig at Eliott while giving his opinion on why he liked snowboarding. The two-time Xfinity Series champ said, “So there’s a number of things that I feel like I do that help train my brain. I don’t know if necessarily that’s why Chase does it. You know, it might just be for the enjoyment of it.”
It seems that Reddick was not too sure if Elliott was completely “locked in” while snowboarding.

He talked about how he has become more aware of the issue compared to four or five years before. He said that the drivers would be left in a “weird spot” if NASCAR denied Chase Elliott a waiver, because, then they would feel like they have to live in a bubble.
