At the Martinsville Speedway, Dale Earnhardt Jr made a return to racing, in the Xfinity Series. Along with him was NASCAR spotter TJ Majors and crew chief, Jason Stockert. In conversation with the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Majors spoke about his link-up with the former Daytona 500 winner.
Majors said, “Man! I don’t know if its old age or what. But he’s getting mellower as he gets me run here. I didn’t even get yelled at one time! We even got spun out, and I didn’t get yelled at. In my opinion, yes! This is becoming a common theme for this guy. Last year’s truck race, same thing.”

Majors had an awkward moment with Dale Earnhardt
Rather awkwardly, Dale Jr himself walked into the studio. This happened just as they were talking about the former Daytona 500 winner. Majors confessed that he had no idea that Dale Jr would be coming at all. On the bright side, the two of them did have an excellent day in the office, with an 11th place finish.
Aside from being Dale Jr’s spotter, Majors also take on the same role for Brandon Brown. Speaking of Brown, he scored two Top 10 finishes, with a season-best 8th place at Richmond. Now, the Xfinity Series paddock has a small break before the next race at the Talladega Superspeedway. This also means that the drivers will not get a chance to run on the dirt track.
However, the Xfinity Series definitely needs the break, especially after what happened. For the uninitiated, there was a massive brawl between Sam Mayer and Ty Gibbs after the Martinsville race. Owing to that, Gibbs quickly came close to Kyle Busch’s levels of unpopularity. Truthfully speaking, he did have a right to be upset because Mayer cost him a chance of a win. However, he could have handled himself a lot better, rather than going out all fists flying.
