You can take a driver out of a racetrack, but you can never rake a racetrack out of a driver. Such is the passion that revolves around the sport of NASCAR. Once someone falls in love with the thrill of speed, it never really goes away. One could stay close to the sport, but nothing but a firesuit, a helmet, and a 700-horse power beast can totally satisfy the itch.

The situation is no different for NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace. It’s been 7 years since Kenny Wallace put his driving gear aside and picked up the mic for FOX Sports. And it’s only now in 2023 that Wallace craves to race stock cars just one more time. But why just once?

In a recent episode of the Kenny Wallace show, the 62-year-old admitted that he had been having a dream that he was back at his father Russel Wallace Sr.’s old racetrack Lake Hill Speedway in Valley Park, Missouri. However, recently he has been having dreams of running in an Xfinity race.

Kenny Wallace raced for the last time in 2015 in IOWA in the number 20 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. But he felt like he needed to race just one more time to attain closure on his dreams that have been bugging him lately.

Wallace said, “So I call Dale Earnhardt Jr. Up. We have a great relationship, we are good friends. I said Man, you gotta let me run one of your Busch Grand National cars at Richmond, that’s my jam.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. did not agree. According to Kenny, Junior said, “It’s too expensive, too difficult to put together.” But the two-time Xfinity Series champion did not leave Kenny Wallace entirely dry. He said, “What you need to do to get this out of your system is, you need to run my cars Tour Series.”

Kenny Wallace announced, “I’m gonna run South Boston Virginia, October 7th , Saturday night because it’s that track that I believe, it will stop my dreams. I’ll quit dreaming and that will be the end of asphalt racing for me.”
