Earlier, history was made when Daniel Suarez romped to Victory Lane. In the process, he has become the first Mexican driver to win a NASCAR race, as well as the fifth non-American. Before him, Colombia’s Juan Pablo Montoya, Australia’s Marcos Ambrose, Italy’s Mario Andretti, and Canada’s Earl Ross triumphed. However, Suarez’s journey to the NASCAR Cup Series and his maiden win was far from easy.

Speaking about his struggles, he said, “I was always dreaming about winning in the Cup Series. I knew it was going to be a tough journey. At the time, I was scared not to be able to compete because I didn’t speak English.”

“I didn’t have the money to buy myself classes to speak English. So in a way, I had to learn by myself by watching movies and cartoons and reading. It was quite a journey, but I remember waking up one day. Being scared that the language barrier would keep me away from my goal of being a winner and a championship winner in the NASAR Cup Series.”

“I didn’t want that to happen, and I started working extremely hard to learn English.”

What else did race winner Daniel Suarez say?

According to the Trackhouse Racing driver, it has been an incredible journey to be where he is now. In addition to that, he felt that his story mirrored that of the many Mexicans and Latinos in America. Especially when they enter the country to look for opportunities and fulfill their dreams. So, if Suarez could achieve his dreams, he is confident that many of his compatriots could do the same.

All in all, he was proud to act as a role model for all the Mexicans out there. With this win, he is officially a Playoff contender, in a day of delight for Trackhouse Racing. This is because the outfit now has both of their cars in Playoff contention and with a legitimate shot at the Cup title.
