A few weeks ago, Dale Earnhardt Jr had a culinary revelation when he discovered that there are more than just the five kinds of steak people are used to having. During the race weekend at Pocono, the former Cup Series driver went out to dinner with some of his friends and one of them ordered what is called a ‘medium plus steak’.

A medium plus steak is basically one which is 10 degrees warmer than a medium steak, but not exactly a medium well. At the time, Junior thought could not get his head around the concept of a medium plus steak but he has educated himself about the same, and on a recent episode of The Dale Jr. Download podcast, he admitted his mistake.

I can admit when I’m wrong, says Dale Earnhardt Jr

His co-host and long-time friend Mike Davis reminded him that Steve Letarte and The Professor were hard on him for going in on a medium-plus steak without knowing what it was. It sort of annoyed Dale Earnhardt Jr who said that he couldn’t care less, in a less flattering way, and that he can admit when he is wrong about something, no matter how he might have thought about it before.

Dale admitted that there indeed is something called a medium plus steak and that the reason he, until recently, did not know about it was that he never frequented restaurants or steakhouses that offer that kind of steak.

“Here’s where I stand on this. There is a such thing, I wanna admit that there is a such thing as a medium plus…it’s all in the higher-end steakhouses that have those options. Obviously, I probably don’t frequent those type of establishments often enough to pick up on these type of things but I’ll give it to them, they’re right, they won,” the former NASCAR driver said.

His co-host Mike Davis would then remind him how Steve Letarte and The Professor spoke about him not knowing what it was on the Dirty Mo Dough podcast, drawing an annoyed reaction from Junior.

“They won. They took a hard approach at you on Dirty Mo Dough, both Steve and The Professor did,” Mike Davis said.

“I could give a cr*p less who takes a hard stance on me, but let me finish, I can admit when I’m wrong, Mike,” Junior retorted.

The entire debate about Dale Earnhardt Jr. not knowing what a medium well steak was started about three weeks ago at Pocono when he had gone out for dinner with his friends and was stunned when one of them ordered a medium plus steak.

In an earlier episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, the 48-year-old said that he thought that the whole concept of a medium plus was silly.

“So I’m sitting there at dinner in Pocono and I get a salmon plate and pretty much everybody else gets a steak and the lady asks, ‘well how do you want it cooked’, and the guy says medium plus. And I said, ‘what the hell’, and he’s like yeah medium plus and I’m like, I mean is that like medium rare? What the hell? Why won’t you just say medium rare? That’s silly. Plus? What is this,” Dale Jr said.

Junior then spoke about the argument he got in with the person who ordered the steak and it ended up being a light-hearted moment in the podcast episode with Mike Davis.
