Can you imagine the level of attention an event that has Kyle Larson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. racing against or with each other would get? It would be quite insane.
But before we get away with our dreams, two things need to be mentioned: a) Dale Jr. is open to racing in the Chili Bowl. And b) He’ll only do it under one specific condition.

In a recent episode of the Dale Jr. Download, the NASCAR Hall of Famer opened up on his participation and intent on the World of Outlaws races, something Kyle Larson is a regular fixture at.
“I’m ready to go! I think for me… I like going to a racetrack but it’s hard for me to a track without purpose,” he said. “I could do it, but I’ll feel ‘in the way’. Like I don’t know where I belong.”

“I’ve talked to a couple of teams about going to the Chili Bowl if I could work, if they could give me a purpose or a reason to be there. Because then I would feel like I’m earning my place,” Earnhardt Jr. added.

During an episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, the NASCAR Hall of Famer was asked whether fans can expect the defending Cup champion to be behind the wheel of a single-seater in Indianapolis.

“Yeah, I mean he’s talked about it,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “I think he’ll get to a point in his life when he starts to really take stock in his age… if he’s gonna run the INDY500, he wants to run it to win it.”

Earnhardt Jr added that Kyle Larson needs to do it before “he ages himself out.”
