Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Ty Gibbs and JR Motorsports star, Justin Allgaier were involved in a wreck in the Xfinity Series race at Nashville Superspeedway. For the most part, the race was pretty clean, but during the final stage run, Allgaier’s #7 Chevy bumped into the back of JGR’s #19 car, spinning him off the racetrack. Surprisingly, this was the first caution set off by the drivers on the racetrack.

Both the drivers were hunting for a win, but this accident certainly blew their chances to run up in the field. Allgaier seemed to come off worst as he had to change the battery of his race car and thus had a lengthy pit stop, losing the vital track position. From the replay, it was evident that the No. 7 overshot his run on the turn which caused the wreck.

Ty Gibbs, surprised by the incident on the team radio, said, “I got turned right”. However, the JRM star was quick to acknowledge his wrongdoing. “Tell Him I am sorry, I don’t want retaliation”. But the fans weren’t sold on him coming clean after deliberately taking Gibbs out of contention.

The incident happened with just 53 laps to go in the race, and it was hard to see either of the drivers make a comeback. But, Allgaier, despite the long pit stop trying to resolve the technical issue with his car, managed to get back to speed and finish the race inside the top 10. He finished P8, whereas Gibbs wasn’t able to get back to his usual speed and had to be content with a P20 finish.

In a race where incidents between drivers were few and far between, Justin Allgaier’s aggressive move certainly stood out. This resulted in a massive backlash for the JRM driver by the fans on social media.

Fans are not convinced by Allgaier’s apology after wrecking Ty Gibbs

Fans are always ready to pick on a driver that they do not root for. While Dale Jr’s JRM has plenty of support, his drivers do fall out of favor with the fans. And Allgaier wrecking Gibbs certainly wasn’t appreciated by this fan, who even took shots at his NASCAR career, saying, “There’s a reason Justin Allgaier is a career Xfinity driver”.

The Xfinity Series does have young, talented drivers who often go on a wrecking spree. But, considering Allgaier is a seasoned driver, this surely could’ve been avoided. Further questioning his skill set as a race car driver, a fan added, “Allgaier the Xfinity lifer showing exactly why”.

There’s a difference between a bump and run and ramming the opponent’s car on the turns. Despite the raw nature of the sport, this type of dirty racing wasn’t appreciated by the masses. Especially on a day when race-related incidents were next to none; “Class act 🙄. Enough of this in our sport. No room”.

Further rubbing salt on JRM’s star driver’s wound, a fan even went as far as to call out his failure to win the championship: “That’s the reason why Allgaier can’t win a championship right”.

Despite having won 23 Xfinity Series races, this move by Allgaier was seen as his fall from grace. Expressing his frustration with the driver’s antics, a fan certainly didn’t pull any punches. “Allgaier biggest loser ever”.

Fortunately, Ty Gibbs doesn’t race full-time in the Xfinity Series; if he did, he could have planned a payback, which Allgaier would have had to take without any complaints.
