This year has started well for the NASCAR world, with an array of exciting news surfacing from various quarters. There have been new additions to families, weddings have been arranged, retirement plans have been announced, and a few comebacks are also on the cards. However, there has been an addition to NASCAR that seems unusual at a first glance. It relates to Frankie Muniz—the actor who played Malcolm’s character in the famous sitcom Malcolm in the Middle.
Muniz began his journey on the tracks many years ago. He is a racing enthusiast who shuffled between acting and racing for some time. It is worth noting that he has raced in Formula BMW USA as well as the prestigious Champ Car Atlantic Series, earning $17,000 in prize money at the latter.
Recently Bob Pockrass posted a clipping of an interview that Muniz gave on his Twitter handle. The clip was introduced by the caption, “I wondered if actor Frankie Muniz has trouble being taken seriously by teams and sponsors in his quest to be a full-time driver. The ARCA driver gives some insight into his racing career and why it took him 12 years to get back into racing.”

Frankie Muniz on how he feels to be back
In the interview, a journalist asked Muniz if has any trouble with sponsors or people taking him seriously. The journalist also wanted to know if people asked him whether he was just getting back to racing for the thrill of it or whether it is something that he is serious about. To this, Frankie honestly replied, “I think a lot of people don’t know that I have raced a lot in my past. Started like 10-15 years ago, I was racing in the Champ Car Atlantic championship, I had an IndyCar ride setup for 2010.”

He shed some light on what his intentions are and said, “I am anxious to prove a lot of people wrong, I’m here to prove to people that I am here to take it seriously. I’m not just here for a fluke, I’m not just here for publicity. I wanted this my entire life, you know what I mean? You know I’m mad I waited 12 years after my last experience to get here. I want people to look at me and see me on track and go, ‘Wow, he belongs,’ and I’m ready to prove to everyone that I do. So hopefully I do.”
