It is no secret that Ty Gibbs is among the youngest NASCAR Cup Series drivers. Owing to that, he is a fair bit lacking in the height department compared to many of his contemporaries. Not only this, he has always been considered a rising star and made his Cup Series debut last year with Joe Gibbs Racing. And now, Ty Gibbs is all set to enter his second season with the organization and is eager to prove himself.
Recently, he exclusively spoke to Fox Sports on several subjects. Among them, he spoke of his family and its deep roots in the world of sports. This is important because grandfather Joe Gibbs used to be an NFL coach before turning to NASCAR racing. The 21-year-old has two younger siblings and two older cousins, the latter of whom were both in college football. When he spoke about his family, Ty Gibbs also opened up about why he was so much shorter than his siblings.

Gibbs told Fox Sports, “Yes. I’ll tell you why. Because my brothers and my cousins are all super big kids. Both my younger brothers are bigger than me now, so I guess that means I’m really small, which doesn’t help. But I’m not the smallest in the Cup Series. I don’t think people know that. There’s other smaller guys than me. I always get picked on for being small. But there’s some small dudes out there.”
His last few comments may have been jabs at some of his rivals. Most notably, Hendrick Motorsports star and 2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson. As it happens, the #5 driver stands at 5 feet and 6 inches, while Gibbs is 5 feet and 7 inches. Other drivers are also a little shorter than him, like Justin Haley, who is 5 feet and 2 inches. Additionally, there is also Tyler Reddick, who is 5 feet and 5 inches tall.

The Joe Gibbs Racing star has hit the ground running this season
Ever since the 2024 season kicked off at the LA Coliseum, Ty Gibbs has meant business. He was right in the running for a race win but had a tangle with Team Penske driver Joey Logano during the race. Afterward, the two drivers had a bit of a confrontation, but it, fortunately, seemed like there was nothing major.
