With just hours remaining for the highly anticipated road race featuring the cream of the crop drivers at the iconic Indy Motor Speedway, bad news has yet again stunned Richard Childress Racing camp as Kyle Busch‘s newest teammate fails to deliver the hype he promised.

While the Chicago triumphant, Shane Van Gisbergen managed to sneak in the top 10 during the qualifying with his Trackhouse Racing teammate, Daniel Suarez claiming the pole, SVG’s fellow Supercar driver has had a major setback during his initial qualifying run.

Verizon 200 at the Brickyard is certainly one of the most anticipated races this year. With just 2 more races to the playoffs, NASCAR nation is all in for the race. Moreover, the hype is otherworldly as the race will also top international drivers, making their presence felt in Stock Car Racing’s premier promotion.

While Trackhouse Racing‘s #99 Chevy posted the fastest time during qualifying, with Daniel Suarez putting on a blistering 1:27.968s pace, his fellow Chevy driver paid the price for a slip during the qualifying session. Brodie Kostecki, the 25-year-old Aussie Supercar driver and Busch’s new RCR teammate felt the wall as his #33 Chevy came in contact with the wall on his initial run.

The Cup Series debutant lost traction entering the banked corner and had brief contact with both the front and rear ends of the Chevy touching the wall. Though he qualified 11th, the driver on his Instagram revealed that he will be starting Sunday’s race at the bottom despite putting on a valiant effort.

Despite the nasty bump into the wall, the 25-year-old managed to pick up a respectable 11th spot in the qualifying session but the RCR car might have suffered damage that prompted the team to bring in a new chassis, consequently handing the Aussie driver a bottom start for the race.

The driver himself broke the sad news to the community as he updated it on his Instagram with the caption, “First day behind the wheel of the #33 @mobilex_us had a little mishap in qualifying after qualifying P11. Starting rear of field tomorrow and have some work to do, thanks to everyone at @rcrracing.”

The youngster teased the community with a series of images with the Busch and his fellow Supercar driver and champion, SVG. Whereas fans showed their appreciation by acknowledging the driver’s effort considering this is his first ever Cup Series race.

“Damn shame, thing looked pretty fast, hopefully the back up is faster haha. Get after it tomorrow”

While another user said, “Still a solid effort!”
