“He doesn’t care if you’re mad…win at all cost is the name of the game, isn’t it?” This is what Brett Griffin said when Austin Dillon shoved Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin out of the way in the Richmond race to take the checkered flag. This is just one of the many controversial remarks made by the Door Bumper Clear Podcast host.
DBC is a podcast under the banner of Dale Earnhardt Jr.-owned Dirty Mo Media, where Brett Griffin is often seen with his co-hosts, Freddie Kraft and TJ Majors. Griffin is a NASCAR veteran to have spotted for some big names like Jeff Burton or Clint Bowyer. But he is most well known for his nonchalant comments on the podcast. In an era when pretty much everyone walks on eggshells, fans love Griffin’s unfiltered approach. However, the veteran has recently announced his parting ways with DBC after their latest episode aired. And here’s what he said.
Brett Griffin will no longer be a host on DBC

Griffin was most recently seen spotting for Austin Dillon in the Michigan Cup Series race this year. This came since Brandon Benesch was suspended for one race after he gave the #3 the command to wreck Logano in Richmond.
Since then Brett Griffin has spotted different drivers, like Austin Hill, AJ Allmendinger, and Ty Dillon, among others this season, but is mostly seen being himself on the Door Bumper Clear podcast or occasionally penning articles for ‘The Athletic.’ Recently, Griffin has decided to keep the mic down as he is parting ways with DBC. The veteran took to X to share the news, where he wrote, “Thank you, listeners. I’ve had a blast on this journey, and my goal was simple – share the knowledge and experiences I’ve had during my career. Let’s laugh and learn as we go and we did just that. Ep 355 was my last. “

Griffin would definitely be remembered for saying many controversial things on the podcast. Like from the same Richmond incident, he had said, “The three biggest heels in our sport, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano. Kyle Busch has gone somewhat quiet. They’re arrogant (expletive). They wreck a lot of people to win.” But perhaps the most controversial one has to be his comments on the city of Chicago from last year.
NASCAR, in their road course experiment, held the Chicago Street Race. While the race was thrilling with debutant Shane van Gisbergen winning, it was Chicago’s mayor who had Brett Griffin say not-so-kind words. Earlier NASCAR had a 3-year deal with Chicago to hold the race, but Mayor Brandon Johnson said his office will assess this deal as chances of them opting out of this agreement loom large. This angered Griffin, leading him to say, “So for you to say as a city, you don’t know if you want us back for the next two years and we can’t already be selling tickets and talking about it, then that leader can (expletive) off.”
What further infuriated Griffin was that the Xfinity race was shortened due to a music concert scheduled. To this Griffin said, “It’s an absolute embarrassment to what we do for a living to not be able to finish that race on Saturday afternoon and have the concert and have all of those fans that invested all of their time and hard-earned money to come in and have the experience that they deserve. So, I will stand on the hill and (expletive) the city of Chicago’s leaders.”
Additionally, Brett Griffin has had a long career in NASCAR, which did not have the smoothest of beginnings. After many cold calls and emails, Griffin got a job as the public relations representative for Elliott Sadler in 1999. He served as a publicist/media relations manager for CITGO Petroleum, which at the time was partnered with Wood Brothers Racing and Sadler.
But that was only the beginning. At the end of the 2000 Cup Season (then called the Busch Series), Elliott needed a new business manager, and he picked Griffin for the job, and he also made him his spotter. Over his time with Sadler, Griffi negotiated many sponsorship deals and team contracts with major corporate partners for Sadler. The pair won their first race in 2001 in Bristol. He spotted for many years with Elliott, competing for eight championships and winning eight races together. When Sadler left RCR in 2012, Griffin became the spotter for first Burton, then for Bowyer up until 2020, Bowyer’s last Cup season.
While his comments this time have led to an uproar from Chicago natives, this is what Griffin is known for and loved! His unapologetic comments! According to fans without him, the viewership of DBC is set to tank!
Fans will definitely miss Griffin!

Fans could not believe the news, as Brett Griffin was the reason why they watched the show. One fan wrote, “Nooo wayy! You are an important piece of the show and brought so many ppl back to the sport. This is a bummer.” Griffin is known to reply to his fans and the ones of the show, and in his reply, it seemed like Griffin isn’t leaving DBC by choice. Griffin replied to the fan, “Thanks for the kind words. Means a lot. Not everyone sees it the way you and I do.”
While Kraft and Majors on the show talk with a little bit of filter and are careful with their choice of words, Griffin goes all out with his rants, making him irreplaceable to the fans. One fan wrote in his reaction to the news, “(Expletive)?!?! First NASCAR goes to shit and NOW YOU ARE LEAVING US?!?! There is just no replacement for THE Brett Griffin. We gonna miss ya big guy.”
The Dale Jr.-owned Dirty Mo Media has many podcasts, including Dale Jr. hosted, Dale Jr. Download, or Actions Detrimentals hosted by NASCAR veteran Denny Hamlin. Amid this, DBC is vastly popular as it kind of gives fans behind-the-scenes on incidents that happen on the track. Since, like Brett Griffin, even TJ Majors is the spotter for Brad Keselowski, or Kraft is the spotter for Bubba Wallace. All three bring perspectives straight from the garage, as often they are the ones part of the race where these incidents occur.

And the spotter has no mercy on his co-hosts if they have wronged something. His shrewd judgment makes him a fan favorite. One fan is no longer going to watch BDC with his favorite host gone, as he wrote, “Literally won’t be worth listening anymore lol” After the recent race manipulation incident in Martinsville, Brett Griffin made several controversial comments, calling out NASCAR or some involving Freddie Kraft since the #23 car was also involved. Griffin noted that NASCAR should have been harsher with their penalties; this came after Kraft was on the panel having been suspended for the incident.
This is Griffin being Griffin! Another fan echoed the same emotions when he wrote, “I don’t know that I will listen to DBC without Brett. I mean I love Freddie, but the show lacks energy when Bret isn’t on.” If ousting him is a deliberate move, it might affect DBC’s viewership as fans are united on the opinion that DBC won’t be the same without Griffin.
One fan on this wrote, “Huge loss to @DirtyMoMedia. Nobody has the balls to tell it like it is anymore. You do and we need that. Everyone is so PC and polished. Let us have our group of realists (expletive) it.” Do you agree with these views? Would you also miss Brett Griffin on DBC?
