Following the news of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s demise, multiple sports such as soccer saw their games being postponed in order to pay their respect. However, this also meant that changes would be seen in NASCAR after it was revealed by Bob Pockrass that this weekend’s practice and qualifying would take place at noon.

Pockrass took to Twitter and stated, With all the Premier League soccer games postponed today, the Cup practice and qualifying will be on the USA at noon.

This would be a good thing for NASCAR fans around the US since most of the time, regular NASCAR race timings have been often criticized to start pretty late.

The King of NASCAR once got to meet Her Majesty The Queen

Richard Petty is often regarded as the King of NASCAR since he holds a solid seven Cup Series Championship to his name. Back in 2007, Petty got the rare opportunity to meet with the Queen at Kentucky Derby.

Ahead of the interaction, Petty stated, “If I meet the Queen, it’ll probably be a nod and that’s about as far as it’ll go. I don’t know if I could talk to her because I don’t speak English. I speak Southern American, and I don’t know if she would understand that or not.”

The Queen was supposed to be at the upcoming Kentucky Derby that year. Petty mentioned that he would wear his iconic cowboy hat, which he wears to every race nowadays. He also joked that he had seen Her Majesty wear a big hat herself and that his hat would be of no match to that of Queen Elizabeth II.
