Some might argue that NASCAR’s popularity is declining. While that is another topic for debate, when it comes to motorsports as a whole in the States, the passion among fans is still very much active. With the advent of streaming services, smaller events are now being brought to people, which have been hugely successful. Dale Earnhardt Jr is one man who has taken advantage of getting his CARS Tour to the masses thanks to these streaming services, bringing attention to talented racers like Bubba Pollard.

“I think social media has helped guys like yourself and it has helped introduce the short track world back to where it used to be. I feel like streaming has changed that,” he said.

Dale Jr replied, “Streaming has come on in the past 5 years. I remember being able to log in to Flo and watch a Late Model race at Langley going “damn this is awesome,” and it was so sh***y, one camera, all you could hear was the PA and I was fine. It was perfect. I was like…otherwise I’d have to drive 6 hours to go there and see this”.

Two of the biggest streaming services when it comes to American motorsports are FloRacing and Racing America. Super Late Model legend Bubba Pollard believes that they have helped in the popularity of some of the best drivers at the lower levels of motorsports and dirt racing.

“I think that changed everything. I watch racing now, it’s nothing to turn on Flo or Racing America and see all different types of racing. I know people that I never would have known before in different types of racing so…I keep up with probably the dirt world more than anything like Bobby Pierce and Davenport and all those guys…I think it’s cool. I think that’s the difference in where we are now in racing,” Pollard said.

“I think it’s put the fans…where the fans can get back to what it used to be as far as they’re having a hometown hero. I feel like this past weekend at Richmond, I felt like if it wasn’t for the streaming, they would never know who Bubba Pollard was and I think that’s helped a lot and it helped bring the fans out to Richmond this weekend and the response that I have gotten is absolutely crazy,” he added.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is also one of the people trying to bring the sport as much to the audience as possible and his work with the CARS Tour and other competitions and events has been incredible. It just is a testament to his love for the sport and his incredible entrepreneurial mindset.
