Long before Ross Chastain, NASCAR had its own intimidator! Dale Earnhardt Sr is without any doubt one of the most popular drivers in the sport’s history, ‘The Intimidator’ back in the day was a force to be reckoned with. Many of his competitors lost the race before even finishing the race due to the intimidating factor the late driver possessed!

With such a legacy etched down in the sport, the recent incidents in the Cup Series have the community comparing Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain to his original counterpart. This somewhat flimsy comparison received major backlash from fans. Even Dale Sr’s son and veteran driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr felt the heat with this one.

While the #1 driver, Chastain was causing all the havoc on the track with his super aggressive style of racing, many enthusiasts have gone out to compare the Alva native to the legendary Dale Sr and this has garnered quite the obvious criticism.

Recently, the community saw Mike Davis prove his point as he voiced his distaste while Dale Jr once again drew a comparison.

Mike Davis goes all out as he defends Dale Earnhardt Sr’s legacy fiercely!

As the popular duo sat down in their studio to discuss the recent debacles in NASCAR, Dale Jr himself walked into the fire as he drew out an analogy between his father and Chastain. While the veteran clarifies that the #1 driver is not Dale Sr, he mentioned the wide possibility of marketing the driver’s reputation to the fullest much like his father’s intimidating persona.

On the other hand, his co-host, Davis quickly jumped the gun as he defended Dale Sr’s legacy, he said, The part I was struggling, Dale is is it’s using your dad as the example, well I think there’s better examples here, I think there is a responsibility, using your dad as an example to anything comparable to anything today’s drivers feels like a reach to me because we’re talking about the greatest to ever do it.”

While Davis points out other drivers like Danica Patrick, who was a very well-marketable racer. Davis also acknowledges the fact that, in the end, it’s the skill and endurance of the driver that comes above the strategic push. Even the great’s son, Dale Jr felt the heat from fans as he gave a brief analogy, as he mentioned the overwhelming stats of the Gragson-Chastain conflict.

Further, Dale Jr elaborated his take, as he mentioned the popular ‘intimidator’ souvenirs back in the day.
