Hickory Motor Speedway was on its final laps to see Clark Houston’s long-awaited victory in the Late Model Stock series all until a notorious brawl broke out backstage. While Houston’s win was overshadowed by the infamous scuffle, the community witnessed yet another cheap dramatic display of un-called violence between teams.
Landon Huffman and Annabeth Barnes-Crum came across each other on several occasions as both the drivers exchanged a few bumps until things got on the ugly side. Huffman’s spotter and father, Robert Huffman, received a cheap shot from Barnes-Crum’s spotter and husband, Jake Crum.
While North Wilkesboro saw NASCAR shine in the bright light, the late-model series earned a notorious reputation as the Crum team resorted to violent ways.

Landon Huffman talked about the aftermath of the brawl as the driver updated the community about his dad’s condition
Despite the cheap antics from the Crum team having sparked the community’s anger for uncalled violence that spilled on the track, the sheer audacity of Barnes Crum and her husband Jake Crum to resort to such behavior has the team on its back foot.
The infamous stunt broke out late during the final hours of the race as Huffman Racing’s Landon Huffman, who is also the defending champion in the series, was pushed into the wall by his fellow driver, Annabeth Barnes-Crum. Soon Huffman retaliated swiftly by pushing her up the track in the next corner.
But little did the driver and the unsuspecting fans know that the situation is about to turn really ugly.
Unquenched with her revenge, Barnes-Crum set out for retribution as the driver wrecked her adversary even during the caution. Eventually, it was the final nail in the coffin when the female driver deliberately rammed into Huffman’s rear, resulting in major damages to both cars.
As the driver himself updated about his father’s condition after the scuffle, furious fans urged for satisfactory action against Jake Crum.
He wrote, “Dad is okay this morning. He has a broke nose and his eye is beat up. After he got blind sided, it knocked him to the ground and Crum started stomping him before Dad could get Jake down & in a head lock. Dad was talking to me on the radio and got clotheslined from behind.”

The community was shell-shocked to see Jake Crum, who is also a racer, take a cheap shot at the senior. That too for a tale that unraveled on the track. The audacity of the Crum team has been up for question as furious fans bashed Barnes Crum and her team for the cheap action.
Commenting on Huffman’s tweet, one fan suggested, “Press charges and file a civil lawsuit. Unfortunately there are a few punks in racing who think they can get away with anything. I had a similar situation happen to me earlier in the year. I have up to 2 years from the time it happened to move forward with it. Wait until they forget about it and then hit ‘em with the lawsuit. Shit like this will stop.”
“F*cking unreal.”
“I’m glad your dad is ok Landon. The act of sucker punching shows a person’s true identity. Prob all boils down to jealously.”
While the community was relieved to hear the update on Huffman’s part, they certainly did not shy away from displaying their true emotion.

“I’m just now caught up on everything.
They just need to be banned from the race track and you need to take some legal action and pay for your next few race seasons.
That shit is ridiculous.”
