With the skies being cloudy throughout the weekend in Charlotte and chances of rain posing a risk to the racing, Bubba Wallace and Aric Almirola took it upon themselves to deliver the missing heat factor. Because while the rest of the field waited for the rain to stop and the racing to resume, the #23 and #10 drivers had a bit of an incident on the pit road.

In a video that surfaced a few hours ago, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver could be seen talking to Wallace, and from the looks of it, the discussion didn’t seem to be a happy one. Soon, the heated discussion escalated and led to Almirola shoving Wallace.

And even though when the racing resumed, nothing of this incident translated onto the racetrack, what the 23XI Racing driver said about it later led to a lot of angry reactions from the fans.

Fans call out Bubba Wallace’s reaction to Aric Almirola’s shove

Speaking in a post-race interview, Wallace reflected on his hard racing in the second stage which ensured he finished inside the top 5 once again, continuing his recent run of good form.

“It was a good day,” he said. “We were trying to figure out how to finish 4th and we did it.”

But when he was asked whether he was surprised about Almirola shoving him during the rain break on the pit road, Wallace said, “No, when you walk around with two faces, that’s what you get.”

This was something that didn’t sit well with some NASCAR fans as they called out the #23 driver for calling his rival “two-faced.”

A fan made a comparison between Wallace and his boss Denny Hamlin, calling them out for quibbling, “I can see why Denny employees Bubba, they both cry and blame everyone else a lot.”

Others joined in to defend Almirola, saying, “Almirola? Twofaced? Huh. Of all the drivers to say that about, he’s one of the last I’d think of.”

There were a few tongue-in-cheek responses as well, such as, “Why Bubba talking about himself like that,” and “Damn, he ain’t cook him. He fried him.”

After a pretty inconsistent start to the season, Wallace seems to have found his groove at this stage of the season. His 4th-place finish in Charlotte ensured a third straight top-5 finish for him. But even though he’s inching closer to the victory lane, Wallace knows that only a win can take him to the next level.

“I think a win is what it’s going to take to get locked in,” Wallace said, as per Beyond the Flag.

He claimed that if “that win” came early, it would ease their minds a lot in the #23 team. “We seem to be a win-in-the-playoffs type team – when we’re not even in the playoffs,” Wallace argued. “If we can get there beforehand, I think then we’ll be really strong when the playoffs do come.”
