Following William Byron spinning out Denny Hamlin at the Texas Motor Speedway a few weeks ago, NASCAR handed him a massive penalty. However, it was widely speculated that Hendrick Motorsport ‘cut a deal’ with NASCAR where they would increase the fine amount and not duck any of his points. This had enraged fans beyond belief. Now, that the same driver has managed to secure himself a pole for this weekend’s race, fans are even more upset.

Even Former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr had initially predicted, “I think, if I had to guess, it’s going to be a 100 owner points, 100 drivers points, and a $100,000. Could be a little more on the monetary side because of the speed.”

However, while Junior was partially right about the monetary side, it wasn’t exactly the case. Instead, the Hendrick Motorsport driver was handed just a single race ban, rescinding his 25 points penalty, and increasing the fine to nearly twice the amount at $100,000.
