Only a few days ago we were anticipating that Kurt Busch might perhaps make a return to the Cup Series. However, Kurt Busch then finally announced that he will not be participating in the Cup Series anymore on a full-time schedule. Right after Busch announced this news, former NASCAR driver and Hall of Famer, Dale Earnhardt Jr took to Twitter and supported Busch on his decision.

Junior said, “I appreciate how @KurtBusch made every team he went to more productive. Not many drivers could do that. Hell of a talent. Excited to see what he does from here as he steps away from full-time driving.“
Following this, Kurt Busch responded, “My passion for this sport might only be second to yours. Helping teams and drivers achieve at the highest level is something I’m very proud of and coming from you, this is an incredible honor. Thank you, Dale.”
Junior is someone who can ideally relate to why would Busch decide on pulling out of the sport like this. Earnhardt Jr himself suffered from a brain injury after receiving several concussions throughout multiple wrecks in his career. At one point things had become so bad for him that he had to step away from racing. Even though Junior eventually returned to racing, he decided soon after to retire completely from the racing scene.
NASCAR fans respect Kurt Busch’s decision and Dale Earnhardt Jr’s support
Fans appreciated that Busch decided to prioritize his health over anything. They also took the time to thank both Junior and Busch for their contributions to the sport, especially when it comes to being outspoken about drivers’ health and safety.
Fans stated,
Hopefully @KurtBusch follows in @DaleJr footsteps !! Kurt has long been a voice for NASCAR and drivers ! My mama , God rest her soul , wasn't a big racing fan until she heard Kurt being interviewed . Right then she said "he needs to be in the booth" ! She always said that ! ❤

To be honest Kurt, earlier in your career I didn’t really care much but as you got older I really started to respect your longevity, your talent, your love for the sport, and your love for the fans. Good on you. Hope you get fully recovered soon

The only question is who will go into the NASCAR Hall of Fame with @KurtBusch in three years. Hope @dennyhamlin follows up on a third car for you on races you want to run next year. Chicago street race I hope for sure.

You both have done a lot for the safety of the sport, on top of being some of the best drivers to ever do it.
