Larson, who has emerged as a strong contender after winning the first race of the Round of 8 in the 2023 NASCAR Playoffs, is fully focused on the Homestead-Miami race. Winning the first race in the Round of 8 has its advantages, as last season’s champion, Joey Logano, highlighted. Securing a spot in the final round early can alleviate the pressure in the remaining races. In a sport where margins are razor-thin, the first race win can be crucial.
However, Larson’s approach is unique. He revealed, “For me, zero on Phoenix, all Homestead.” He also emphasized his love for the Homestead track and his dedication to preparing for it, saying, “I love this weekend. I love Homestead and just trying to watch as much video of this place as I could to get my mind ready to run the wall.”
Larson’s strategy is rooted in his experience. Reflecting on his championship run in Phoenix in 2021. He stressed the importance of pit stall selection at the track. “Well, we started the weekend off by getting the pole. That was huge to get the number one pit stall. In the race, at different points, we had a good car. And then in other points, we weren’t. Not that we had the best car at the end of the race. But our pit crew did a really good job and that number one pit stall paid off.”
