Now a full-time Craftsman Truck Series driver for ThorSport Racing, Hailie Deegan got her big break when she made the jump to the ARCA Menards Series in 2018. Collecting three race wins during her ARCA series run from 2018 until 2020, Deegan also met her current boyfriend, Chase Cabre during her last season in NASCAR’s feeder series.
Appearing for an interview on the No Focks Given podcast, the two-time Truck Series Most Popular driver revealed the wild start to her relationship with Chase Cabre.

Most young relationships stem from high school classrooms and hallways, but Hailie Deegan’s relationship story is as flamboyant and aggressive as her on-track persona. Although Chase Cabre and Hailie Deegan competed side by side in NASCAR 2016 Drive for Diversity, the would-be couple didn’t cross paths with each other. The duo then competed in the ACRA Menards Series together, albeit as rivals, never actually interacting with each other off the track.
With their paths entwined by destiny, the duo ultimately came face to face in 2020 at the Phoenix Raceway. But their first meet was far from the typical meet-cute budding romance of the general populace, it could better be termed as an altercation even.
Now in a relationship, Hailie Deegan and Chase Cabre detailed the rocky beginnings of their romance. Asked by podcast host Tanner Fox if he knew who Hailie Deegan was before their relationship, Cabre said, “Yeah, especially when she wrecked me at Phoenix.”
To this, Hailie Deegan added, “I wrecked him.”
“So, I went to the inside of her and then we get down in, coming off (Turn) 2 and then we get down in Turn 3,” Cabre continued.
Misinterpreting Chase Cabre’s racing lingo for a double entendre, Fox reluctantly asked, “Inside of her on the racetrack?”
Catching up with the podcast host’s surprising reaction, Cabre quickly replied, “Yeah, yeah, sorry, sorry, talking way too many race car terms. And then we get down in the corner and she entered way too aggressive into the corner. Just washed up and clipped my left rear and sent me all the way back to 20th.”
With Deegan adding that she wrecked twice in the same race, Cabre continued to reveal how he attempted to jeopardize his would-be love interest. “I tried to get back to her on the last lap and use her up, meaning get down in the corner, hit her”, Chase Cabre said.
Hailie Deegan quipped, “Pretty much try to hit me out last moment.”
Upon hearing the spin-out-filled love saga of the racing couple, podcast co-host Maverick Leonard hilariously added, “Hit her in the face?”

Slated to appear in the 2022 Freedom 500 race in Bradenton, Florida, Hailie Deegan elected to sit out the race event. Clearing the air about her no-show at the Bradenton event, Deegan posted a video on her YouTube channel, revealing how an obsessed male fan had reportedly threatened to take Chase Cabre’s life.
Allegedly catfished by someone impersonating Hailie Deegan on social media, the fan was under the impression that Cabre used to abuse Deegan, even holding her hostage.
Deegan said, “I would normally not be worried about this if the fact wasn’t this person, this guy, lives near my race shop, near where I live, my home. It makes me uncomfortable. It makes me scared. You shouldn’t be scared at your own house.”
