This year, the NASCAR Cup Series witnessed Supercars maestro SVG make a resounding entrance with an ambitious endeavor spearheaded by Trackhouse Racing luminary Justin Marks. The very success of this venture catapulted Mr. Marks into the limelight, especially after Shane van Gisbergen clinched victory at his inaugural Chicago race. Yet, SVG is but the tip of the iceberg when it comes to V8 Supercars’ foray into the Cup Series.

NASCAR is poised to infuse a dash more of Australian Supercars’ essence into its 2023 narrative. It was heralded by Richard Childress Racing not long ago that yet another V8 Supercars aficionado would grace the Cup Series, taking the wheel of the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 at the renowned Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. To further underscore the significance, the iconic Dale Earnhardt Jr. has lent his voice in affirmation, lauding the RCR team and the esteemed Richard Childress for their unwavering dedication to the NASCAR craft, as elucidated in his podcast.

“Very clever,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. remarked, reflecting on the golden opportunity bestowed upon the V8 Supercars driver by RCR

From the outset, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been deeply engrossed in SVG’s illustrious journey and his crowning moment in Chicago. He meticulously dissected SVG’s potential performance at the Indianapolis circuit on his podcast, pondering the myriad outcomes of his stint on the Roval racetrack.

Now, with the emergence of another V8 Supercars prodigy, Brodie Kostecki, stepping onto the NASCAR Cup Series stage, Dale Jr.’s anticipation has palpably intensified. Addressing the said driver, Earnhardt expounded, “This guy, everybody needs to tune in to him a little bit. […] His story is really unique, and I have been paying attention to it.”

Furthermore, Earnhardt extolled not only Kostecki’s zealous efforts but also lauded the RCR ensemble and the venerable Richard Childress, for whom Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove, back in 2002 and 2010, for their sagacious choice of inducting such racers into their brigade.

“All the while, secretly until recently this news comes out, he (Bordie Kostecki) has been helping RCR on their road course stuff. He has been driving the same and several other things to help RCR with the next-gen car because the next-gen and supercars are close. Very clever, RCR; very clever. If I was another cup team, I would be like, Hey, let me scour the V8 supercar garage for a driver that can help us with the same and find out what we can do to make our cars better here in the United States, because the cars are so similar. Through Brodie’s hard work and efforts, the impression he has left on RCR and he has got an opportunity to come and race at Indy this weekend.”

In addition, Earnhardt delved into lesser-known facets of Kostecki’s life, highlighting the “unique story” that perhaps remains elusive to general NASCAR aficionados.

He showcases his prowess in the Repco Supercars Championship, helming the No. 99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for the distinguished Erebus Motorsport.

Diving deep into Kostecki’s life, Dale Earnhardt Jr., in a moment of elucidation, revealed a fascinating facet of Kostecki’s past.

“He was an instructor and a student at Paul’s driving school. Paul has a driving school; you go over there. Anyone can go there and drive V8 supercars around his course. Norwell is the course. It’s a driving school; they’ve got a track and cars and everything. Anybody can go there and be a part of that.”
