Pit road became a battleground, and the teammates turned rivals left us all wondering – was it just heat of the moment, or something deeper simmering under the hood? During the Kenny Wallace show, Kenny discussed the recent incident involving Rick Hendrick’s aces Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson.

Kenny described a scenario during a pit stop where both Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott were leaving side by side. However, a third car left its pit box, causing Larson to slightly adjust to avoid contact. This incident seemed minor then, but as they left the pit road and headed onto the apron, Chase Elliott displayed visible frustration and made gestures suggesting retaliation.

Kenny stated, “So Kyle Larson leaves his pits. No problem. He looks in his mirror, and there’s Chase. No problem. They’re just gonna leave pit road side by side. However, you clearly see we’ve all listened. I watched the replay 42 times, 42 chickens. So Kyle Larson comes out his mind in his own business, and then another car leaves its pit box, and you know, kind of gets right there with Kyle Larson.”

“I love Chase Elliott. But he’s just frustrated. That’s all there is to it. Kyle Larson didn’t do anything wrong. Chase didn’t do anything wrong. This was, as they say, this was a nothing burger. There’s no hamburger there. No food. nothing.”

Kenny noted that when interviewed after the race, Larson appeared unaware of the extent of Elliott’s frustration. Kenny admitted that he didn’t consider the incident a major issue initially. However, he emphasized that the NASCAR playoffs often create drama from seemingly small incidents.

Wallace also mentioned William Byron and Alex Bowman, successful drivers in their own right. Kenny acknowledged Chase Elliott’s immense popularity but expressed his belief in Kyle Larson.

“What is going on with Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson, you know. You got a battle for who’s the ace, right? Both are champions Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson are both champions. Then you got William Byron, who can be a champion.” Wallace stated.
