Kurt Busch, the 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion and the 2017 Daytona 500 winner, recently sat down with Motor Racing Network’s NASCAR Live to discuss his younger brother Kyle’s recent move to Richard Childress Racing. In the interview, Kurt said that he thinks the move is a “good fit” and he likes what his brother has chosen to do with the second part of his career.
Kyle Busch began the 2023 season on a high note, winning the final race of the Auto Club Speedway in his debut year with Richard Childress Racing. Kyle’s previous three seasons with Joe Gibbs Racing, with whom he secured two championships, were underwhelming, which arguably led to his departure from the team. Some, including Denny Hamlin, suspect the reason to be Busch’s high demand for money.
All in all, Kurt, though a 23XI driver, agrees with his younger brother’s decision and expressed his confidence in him, saying in the podcast, “It’s a good fit. I like what he chose to go and do with the second part of his career and maybe third part. ’cause he was a Hendrick early on.”
