Dominating the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, Kyle Larson of Hendrick Motorsports, along with Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. from Joe Gibbs Racing, have been paragons of consistency. Indeed, whispers among the NASCAR elite suggest that this may very well be Denny Hamlin’s season, with his unparalleled brilliance shining through both the regular and playoff segments.

Yet, lurking in the shadows has been another team, consistently impressing in the final stretch of the regular season but perhaps not garnering the limelight they rightfully deserve. Now, a voice from the NASCAR corridors has stepped forward to champion these unsung heroes, hinting that the Ford driver might just unfurl a spectacular show at Phoenix.

In NASCAR circles, do bets seem to be gravitating towards an unexpected victor?

After silencing critics with a stunning performance that witnessed Chris Buescher bagging three wins in the last five regular-season races, the RFK Team’s resurgence can largely be attributed to Brad Keselowski’s transformative influence.

However, the current wave of speculations, intriguingly, isn’t favoring Buescher. Steve Letarte, an erstwhile stalwart at Hendrick Motorsports, is placing his chips on team owner and driver Brad Keselowski. Drawing from Keselowski’s consistent performances, Letarte posits that the Ford driver might just spring a surprise at Phoenix with a remarkable win.

He opined, “This is like a Kez (Keselowski) would be a guy I could get to the championship for now. He wouldn’t be the favorite in the championship four at all, but the experience the swagger, like to your point when he lines up row three or two at Texas, I don’t think he’s going to be nerve-filled. Like he’s going to be super analytical; he’s been there before; he’s going to do what he does, and he’s either going to be good enough or not, but I don’t hate the Kez bet.”

Though a championship triumph for Keselowski wouldn’t be an out-and-out shocker, eclipsing titans like Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin would entail a significant shift in the tides. Furthermore, Keselowski’s own confidence in his team’s prowess, both in terms of machinery and driving talent, also supports the argument.

The ascent of Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing, co-helmed by the indomitable Keselowski, who also steers the #6 Ford Mustang, has undoubtedly intensified the stakes and the spotlight on the squad. With Keselowski and Chris Buescher at the helm, RFK is poised to navigate the turbulent waters of the 2023 Cup Series playoffs, showcasing both their prime entries.

As the anticipation builds towards the second round of playoffs, Keselowski, donning both his co-owner and driver hats, previously weighed in on the strengths and vulnerabilities of their racing machines. In a candid conversation with FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass, the seasoned 39-year-old remarked, “We seem to have really good cars for the superspeedways. The package that we have for the aero and the engines is really well put together, and vice versa for the flatter tracks for the mile-and-a-half style tracks. That’s going to be a challenge for us.”

Given the stride the RFK team has been maintaining, it wouldn’t be amiss to suggest that Steve Letarte’s projections might surely soon become a reality.
