After two drivers have already had to miss races because of concussion-like symptoms, the entire grid is becoming impatient. More and more drivers are speaking up about the issues with the Next-Gen NASCAR Cup cars. Especially during the Talladega weekend, when fans suspected the drivers might actually protest.
Although there was no protest, they sure are reaching their breaking point by now.
But NASCAR issues a suggestion to help drivers overcome the possible issues. They asked drivers to put their heads pinned against the headrest when they’re about to crash at 180 MPH to avoid injury to the head. But the drivers did not exactly take it all-t00 well. In fact, Kyle Larson even said, “That’s dumb.”

He added, “The car should be able to withstand the impact and your headrest should be soft enough to absorb it without getting a concussion.”
And Chase Briscoe agreed with the defending Cup Series Champion, as he drew an analogy of trying not to flinch when someone punches you. He described it as “nearly impossible,” because, well, if you’re launched into a wall at 180 mph, it sure is quite difficult to think about putting your head at the back of a seat.
Briscoe added more variables to describe the ineffectiveness of NASCAR’s suggestion, “By bracing, you get into that cocoon position that gets you away from everything that’s dangerous around you.”
“It’s going to be really hard to brace for that in a way that it shows in the data that’s better.”

Hamlin too has been very vocal about the issues. Obviously, his driver, Kurt Busch, was the first victim of the concussions. And after seeing more and more contenders struggle in the car, he directly called out the leadership.
