There is hardly anything that has stopped Kyle Larson from trying out his racing ventures. With his keen interest in different forms of motor racing, Larson has always been proactively seeking such opportunities. Luckily for him, one such opportunity has landed at his feet but at the cost of one of his Hendrick Motorsports teammates.

Also, this would also help him have a better chance in the All-Star race on May 21.

With two wins already to his name in the NASCAR Cup Series this season, Larson is already having an impressive campaign. Having said that, there’s still loads to achieve as North Wilkesboro Speedway presents a glorious chance to do so. However, the HMS star’s possibility to impress has only increased with the latest update.

Kyle Larson gets a wonderful chance as NASCAR makes a historic return to the North Wilkesboro Speedway

It was just in December 2019 that hoping for a Cup Series race at North Wilkesboro Speedway looked more than a far-fetched idea. However, things took a wild turn after Dale Earnhardt Jr, Speedway Motorsports CEO Marcus Smith, and many others joined hands. With their relentless and never-give-up approach, NASCAR is back at the historic track for the first time since 1996.

While the sport celebrates its 75th anniversary, coming back to a historic track like the North Wilkesboro Speedway, it couldn’t get more poetic. More interestingly, it is a new adventure and challenge for all the present drivers since none of them are familiar with it. One of them definitely includes Kyle Larson.

However, the 2021 Cup Series champion has just recently been presented with a golden chance prior to the All-Star Cup Series race to know the track better. With Alex Bowman out with a fractured vertebra from his sprint accident last month, Larson gets to fill in for him and have the upper hand.

In fact, the 30-year-old will be seen competing for Spire Motorsports in the #7 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Speaking to HendrickMotorsports.com, Larson couldn’t resist his excitement at the opportunity. While he feels bad for Bowman, he understands how beneficial this chance could be for him.

He said, “Since I’ve never raced at North Wilkesboro, I think it could be beneficial to get some additional laps in at the track. I’m looking forward to double-duty All-Star weekend.” It is certainly going to be interesting to see how he fares as it will be his first Truck Series start since 2021 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Clearly, driving two days prior to the Cup Series race will do wonders for Larson at North Wilkesboro. Having said that, instead of him, it could easily have been any other driver to replace Alex Bowman.

Well, at least, some of the fans feel that other drivers deserved it more than Larson. Disappointingly, a few of them said on Twitter:

“This is spot-off to me. Could have put a ton of other drivers in this truck at NWBS. Larson is a helluva driver and gives Spire a real chance at making a good run at the win. But was hoping for a Pollard, McCarty, Kvapil, or anyone from a Super or LMSC short track background”

“Putting someone in who could actually use the opportunity to continue to prove themselves like Berry or Kvapil or LaJoie? Nahhhhhhhh, let’s put in a Cup regular who does not need to run this race at all”

“Should be berry but whatever”

“Damn, I was hoping it’d be @Carson_Kvapil”
