When the 2022 NASCAR Cup season kicked off, the season’s first race was the Busch Light Clash. However, the big difference was that the location was the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, instead of the Daytona International Speedway. The venue was making its NASCAR Cup Series debut, and it was over-hyped according to many fans. Now that the 2023 NASCAR Cup season and subsequent Clash at the Coliseum are on the horizon, 2021 champion Kyle Larson recently disclosed that he, for one, was looking forward to it.

The preparations are already underway at the coliseum for the new campaign. It turns out that Larson is eager to hit the track as he was already present there to see the progress firsthand. For the moment, there is not much to see, except for the ground being dug up and being prepared for repaving. Hopefully, the track will be ready in time for the race on February 5th.

Not many fans were as enthusiastic as Kyle Larson
It is not surprising that some fans did not share the Hendrick Motorsports driver’s enthusiasm. A fair number of people found the inaugural race to be fairly boring and processional. This is largely down to the track being quite narrow and short, not offering too many overtaking chances. Unfortunately for them, the coliseum will continue as the host of the event and the fans will just have to put up with it.

There is always the possibility that the venue will produce more exciting results this time. However, some fans would rather not hold their breath and pray for a miracle. NASCAR races are incredibly unpredictable, so no one knows for sure if a particular race will yield excellent racing action or be a bore-fest. At least Kyle Larson is trying to give it a chance and aim for a win when the race does take place.

For now, we will have to sit tight for another couple of months before the new season kicks off. Larson will be a man on a mission as he aims to clinch his second Cup Series title. However, the #5 driver will be acutely aware that other drivers are just as motivated. Chief among them will be the newly-crowned champion, Joey Logano.
