Last week’s Xfinity 500 was a major disappointment for Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota fans. Despite leading the charts with top-notch performances, #11 driver Denny Hamlin and the regular season champion Martin Truex Jr couldn’t make it past the final playoff race into the final title decider at the Phoenix Raceway.
This mounts the pressure on Christopher Bell who is the sole hope of the entire Toyota camp. Fans were quite shocked to see two seasoned veterans getting ousted in the final playoff race. But their boss, Joe Gibbs seems to be pretty cool about it now. Ahead of the highly anticipated final race in Phoenix, Coach Gibbs was seen taking a sly jab at the Hendrick Motorsports boss, Rick Hendrick, in a wholesome video.
Former NASCAR driver, Kenny Wallace broke the internet with the hilarious yet respectable banter between the two team owners. Poking Hendrick with a sly one Gibbs said, “Not Rick, you’re running over, taking all of my time, now he wants to get on my part,” as soon as the host introduced the HMS owner in NASCAR’s Zoom call.
The two then exchanged a funny banter with Mr. H returning one at Gibbs, asking him if he would congratulate him if one of his drivers claimed the title and Gibbs jokingly said, “I will be forced to, feel like I need to do that yes I will.”

William Byron pretty much has been on a cruise this season. The HMS driver’s breakout season got him his first-ever title shot owing to his spectacular regular season performances. The 25-year-old former KBM driver is the youngest of the four drivers competing for the title in Phoenix. He will become the third youngest champion in the history of the Cup Series if he is successful.
The #24 driver’s journey to the top of Stock Car Racing is certainly a fairy tale. From being a humble iRacing contender who aced the 2017 Xfinity Series, Byron has made his way to the top through sheer hard work and dedication. Reflecting on his insane commitment to the sport, Mr. H said, “His work ethic is so impressive. I just felt like if he was in the right spot with the right people, he was going to do great things. It’s turned out to be that way.” (as reported by Racing America)
