Offering valuable insight, former HMS crew chief Steve Letarte highlighted the driving finesse displayed by Tyler Reddick and Chris Buescher. He emphasized that their collaboration was nothing short of clinical, executed with precision and strategy. Reddick and Buescher’s ability to work together, utilizing drafting techniques and maintaining a synchronized pace, enabled them to create a substantial gap ahead of Truex Jr.

“Chris Buescher and Tyler Reddick, I haven’t asked them. But I believe they purposely worked together running first and second,” explained Steve, speaking with Nate Ryan on the NASCAR on NBC podcast. “They would draft down the straightaways, they would offset one car within the corner. Run both corners, never try to pass one another, pulled back in the draft, and stretched the lead over the #19 to six seconds.”

“It was that moment, it was 15 laps before the green flag pit stops…” he continued. “Scott Grace tells his guy, hey Chris, we need to gap to 19. And Billy Scott tells this guy, hey we need to gap the 19. And two race car drivers go, well, we know how to do it. We’re professionals at 200 miles an hour we are racing with scalpels we are not racing with sledgehammers. And we are going to put this amazing 15-lap drive in, gap the 19, come down, the 45 is a pit stop faster than the 17, passes the 17 and go back on the racetrack and the 19 then, after pit road, blends.”

Amid the racing excitement, Brad Keselowski, co-owner of RFK Racing, took a moment to reflect on the progress his team has made. The FireKeepers Casino 400 marked an important milestone for the team. Chris Buescher clinched victory and demonstrated the team’s resurgence. Notably, Buescher’s triumph marked RFK Racing’s second consecutive win, a feat not achieved since 2010. Keselowski expressed his pride in the team’s development and success, acknowledging the investments in personnel and equipment that have contributed to the team’s current competitive standing.

When asked about the significance of having both RFK Racing cars advance into the playoffs. Keselowski emphasized the importance of showcasing the team’s depth across the entire company. He stated, “I think it is super critical, but I have my own biases. I think putting both cars in and really kind of showing to ourselves and others that we are committed to having that depth across the entire company. To be able to win and be a threat on any given Sunday with both cars is super critical to our long-term standing in the sport.”
