Hendrick Motorsports Hall of Famer Is Set to Grace the Stages of All Star Race as Grand Marshall

The winningest team in NASCAR, Hendrick Motorsports, returns to one of their favorite tracks at North Wilkesboro. On the occasion of the All-Star race, Chad Knaus, HMS’s Vice President of Competition, receives a distinguished honor. Knaus, a NASCAR Hall of Famer and esteemed crew chief, will serve as the Grand Marshal for the event.

Renowned for strategic acumen and leadership, Knaus has significantly shaped Mr. H’s history in NASCAR. This includes guiding Jimmie Johnson to an impressive 81 career wins and seven championships, including five in a row. North Wilkesboro‘s social media handle announces Knaus’ upcoming role. The HMS family is indeed very proud at this moment.

Grand Marshall “Chad Knaus” to grace the NWB Speedway

Rick Hendrick’s team boasts a record of 11 victories in the All-Star event’s history. Kyle Larson holds the title of the most recent winner, having controlled the race at North Wilkesboro last year. Additionally, the partnership of Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus has yielded the most wins in the event’s history. They led in four triumphs (2003, 2006, 2012, and 2013). No wonder North Wilkesboro’s Instagram handle expressed great pleasure in announcing the honor for the 52-year-old crew chief.

They captioned it, “Celebrating our 40ths. 🤩 @nascar Hall of Famer @chadknaus will serve as the Grand Marshal for Sunday’s All-Star Race!”

Apart from that, another Hall of Famer and legendary team owner, Richard Childress, will take on the role of Honorary Pace Car Driver. He will lead the field at the historic 0.625-mile short track to start the NASCAR All-Star Race on Sunday evening.

Chad Knaus, a native of Illinois and a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion crew chief, earned his place in the NASCAR Hall of Fame. He was honored with the prestigious title at Charlotte this January alongside Johnson and Donnie Allison. He joins an elite group of six crew chiefs in the hall, including Ray Evernham, Dale Inman, Kirk Shelmerdine, Waddell Wilson, and Leonard Wood. It’s quite a legendary list, isn’t it?

Knaus’ seven championships place him second only to Inman’s eight among all crew chiefs. With 82 victories from the pit box, he ranks third in wins behind Inman and Wood. Knaus achieved 81 of these wins with the No. 48 car, and his most recent win was in 2020 with William Byron in the No. 24 car.
