You would think that Alex Bowman got flashbacks from last year’s playoff race in Martinsville when Ross Chastain spun around the race leader AJ Allmendinger to take the win in Austin. For those who don’t remember, the Hendrick driver was found guilty of more or less a similar incident with Denny Hamlin on the other side of it.
This had led to Hamlin calling Bowman “a hack“, something which the No.48 driver saw as an opportunity to turn into a joke as he put it on t-shirts and sold them for a good cause.
So it’s not surprising that Alex Bowman had the same advice for the race winner Ross Chastain after he took the checkered flag at the Circuit Of The Americas on Sunday.

In his post-race interview, Bowman was asked what he feels about the situation since he was in the thick of the action and capitalized on Allmendinger’s spin to finish in second place. “I’ve been on the other side of it so I have to live with it right? Talk about Martinsville, I had to live with that,” Bowman said.
“Best advice I have for Ross (Chastain) is, ‘Put it on a t-shirt and sell the hell out of them’.”
Alex Bowman would’ve “done the same thing” as Ross Chastain
After the race, Alex Bowman revealed that he was happy for Chastain for his getting his maiden win, that “he’s a friend,” and “a pain in the a**” to race against, but he’s happy.

At the same time, the Hendrick driver admitted that he was on the wrong side of things towards the end of the race himself. Yet he has no complaints about the race winner.
“I’m on the wrong side of it, but just I know what he’s feeling right now and I’m pumped for him and all the work he’s put in for this,” Alex Bowman said.
