Earlier, the NASCAR Truck Series race concluded with William Byron emerging victorious. What made this win all the more amazing was the fact that he started all the way down in 32nd. This triumph also means that the Hendrick Motorsports driver is now part of an elite club.

To be precise, he is one of three Truck drivers to ever win a race after starting outside the Top 30. Aside from him, the late Bobby Hamilton did it at the 2005 Florida Dodge Dealers 250 at the Daytona International Speedway. At that time, Hamilton started all the way down in 36th but rallied forth to take an unexpected win.

Byron won ahead of Jonny Sauter and Kyle Busch, with John Hunter Nemechek and Ben Rhodes rounding out the Top 5. This was also Spire Motorsports’ first win in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Considering that he fought his way from the back of the pack, this was a well-deserved victory.
William Byron will be hoping that he wins the Cup race as well
Now, the Hendrick Motorsports driver will get a second bite of the cherry later this weekend. This is because he is competing in the Cup Series race at the Martinsville Speedway as well. Of course, qualifying for the race has yet to kick-off, as that will decide the pecking order for Sunday’s race. Byron already has a win this season, having triumphed at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

However, he will be eager to add more visits to Victory Lane under his belt. Of course, this will not be an easy task, as there are many other drivers who are just as motivated to win. Chief among them are his own teammates, Alex Bowman, Kyle Larson, and Chase Elliott. For Elliott in particular, he is under a little bit of pressure because he has yet to win a race this season.
