After a rather controversial yet action-packed Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR slapped a one-race suspension on its golden boy, Chase Elliott. While Elliott’s much-anticipated return has brought back the ardent Hendrick Motorsports fanbase, the allegedly intentional wrecking of Denny Hamlin has left him out of yet another race. However, the HMS camp has found a great replacement for the #9 Chevy in Corey Lajoie.
Soon after the news of Elliott‘s suspension was released, his fanbase was shaken to its core and deemed the sanctioning body’s decision a bit too harsh. On the other hand, several other diehard fans of the sport lauded NASCAR’s timely action as they consider that such detrimental acts cannot be entertained.
While the opportunity itself is a golden one for the Spire Motorsports driver to prove his mettle, a recent NASCAR tweet has unearthed something alarming. With the much-awaited race just around the corner, NASCAR’s efforts to hype up the situation have gone terribly wrong as some fans demand Corey Lajoie replace the remorseless Chase Elliott!

NASCAR and Hendrick Motorsports welcome the man of the hour, Corey LaJoie
Coca-Cola 600 will go down in history as one of the most intriguing chapters of the season. Being riddled with cautions, 16 to be precise, the action-packed race not only captivated the crowd, but Ryan Blaney’s return to the podium after a long 59 races felt like the icing on top of the cake.
That being said, Blaney’s ecstatic win was overshadowed by the ugly tussle between Elliott and Denny Hamlin for all the wrong reasons. Elliott allegedly wrecked the Joe Gibbs Racing driver intentionally as he hooked the right rear of the #11 Camry after Hamlin bumped the #9 Chevy on his way into a corner.
Soon after the race, Hamlin came out all guns blazing as he exposed the HMS driver for his ill intentions with concrete data to prove his ground. As NASCAR stepped onto the playing field to level the scores, Elliott had to face the consequence of his unnecessary actions.
Coming to the current route of things, in the wake of all the recent debacles, NASCAR in an effort to juice the most out of the controversy, welcomed Elliott’s replacement with a generous tweet. But little did the organization know that one man’s “unique opportunity” is about to become Elliott’s worst nightmare.

Enraged fans were too quick to jump the gun as they demanded LaJoie behind the #9 car instead of the poster boy. Moreover, being a full-time driver at Spire Motorsports, LaJoie’s shift to the HMS camp has given Xfinity prodigy, Carson Hocevar the opportunity to pilot the #7 car.

Despite missing out on six races due to his snowboarding accident in early March, Chase Elliott has been dishing out impressive performances, considering the severity of his injury. This was noticeable in Darlington where he came home third and Kansas where he finished 7th while his bitter rival, Hamlin got his first win off this season.
And seeing NASCAR’s latest tweet seems to have infuriated the community more as they went on a spree, commenting and sharing their thoughts on Elliott.
“His name should be on the 9 car and not Chase’s”
“This should be his permanent ride.”
Said a few while others came up with sharp words for Elliott.

Whereas another fan wrote, “He’s such a hard worker. I’m happy it’s paying off. Hopefully, he’ll give em a run for their money.”
While most fans lauded LaJoie and wished him all the best of the race, this indeed is a golden opportunity as fans noted, “Yes a great opportunity.”

With a 19.1 average finish through 14 races, LaJoie is currently in the 20th place in the points table. His best performance this season was at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Interestingly, he led the Chevrolet contingent and was the only Chevy in the top seven.
