Last month, former NASCAR champion Bill Elliott announced his participation in the SRX Series. Now, another familiar face is joining the series, and it is none other than his son, Chase Elliott. The 2020 Cup Series champion competed in the inaugural season last year on a limited schedule. Since he is also juggling his Cup Series duties, one would imagine that he is doing the same this year as well.

Elliott said, “I’m excited to get back in one of the SRX cars this season. Last season was a lot of fun and a cool memory for me competing against my dad. The opportunity to race at Sharon Speedway and compete on dirt against the likes of Ryan and Dave Blaney and some guys I’ve looked up to my entire career is really appealing.”

Last year, he competed at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in Tennessee. In the two heat races, he finished 2nd and eighth but went on to win the feature race. Now, the Hendrick Motorsports driver is back to have a second crack at the fledgling series, again in a limited race capacity. Of course, he is not competing in all six races but will be available for select races.

It is also worth mentioning that Chase Elliott will not be the only current NASCAR driver present. Apparently, Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney is also participating in the championship.
