The auction’s standout items include Kasey Kahne’s prized chassis #923. This car was driven by a former NASCAR driver in the 2015 Cup Series. In 36 races that year, Kahne finished 18th in the final standings with more than 900 points. He had made three top 5 finishes and ten top 10 finishes in 2015. This iconic chassis is up for grabs in less than a thousand dollars.

Notably, Kahne has been one of the most celebrated NASCAR drivers. During his 15-year-long NASCAR Cup Series career, Kahne achieved an impressive 18 wins, 93 top-five finishes, and 176 top-10s. He dominated the Coca-Cola 600 with three victories and secured a memorable win at the prestigious Brickyard 400. Kahne’s exceptional driving earned him a place on NASCAR’s list of its 75 Greatest Drivers, while his all-American charm made him a fan favorite, especially among female fans.

Meanwhile, another special item in the auction is Jimmie Johnson’s Chassis #659. This race car, currently priced at $18,250, has a storied history. Jimmie Johnson raced it seven times during the dramatic 2011 NASCAR season. Johnson achieved a third-place finish at Kansas with this chassis and also endured a significant crash at Charlotte Motor Speedway while driving it.

Have an interesting take?

This isn’t just any collector’s item; it’s a piece of history authenticated by Hendrick Motorsports. The chassis represents a time when NASCAR was transitioning from its Gen 5 to Gen 6 cars. Its legacy is further elevated by Johnson’s stellar career and the competitive 2011 season. Despite Johnson coming off five straight titles, this season was one of the closest in history. Tony Stewart took home the championship after a tie-breaker with Carl Edwards.

Another intriguing piece is Jeff Gordon’s Gen 6 Chassis #878, which Chase Elliott later used in 2017 and 2018. Wrapped in Elliott’s iconic No. 9 Napa Auto Parts scheme, the bodywork is a visual reminder of Hendrick’s ongoing success. Though this chassis currently sits at $5,250, it symbolizes the team’s commitment to excellence across generations of drivers.

The auction also coincides with the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s special exhibit, “Hendrick Motorsports 40 Years.” This exhibit features over 75 artifacts, six cars, and a wealth of photographs, offering an in-depth look at the team’s milestones. While the auction focuses on celebrating Hendrick Motorsports’ past, HMS is also backing its former driver Kasey Kahne for another NASCAR stint.
