Legions of curious fans across the nation might still be wondering, “What if there was no security at the Kansas Speedway last weekend?” Would Noah Gragson have punched back Ross Chastain with the same intensity? Or would Chastain have prevailed in the violent fistfight? But thank God, none of that happened as track officials intervened and diffused the situation. However, was the intervention fair? Here’s what Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson has to say.

Although it’s true that the security officials tried to diffuse the fight, many fans argued why didn’t they stop Chastain from punching Gragson. Furthermore, a few others felt that the intervention was not necessary as the drivers should have been allowed to fight it off outside the track.

However, following this, another reporter questioned if as a ‘little guy’ Larson would need more protection in a situation like this. Explaining how it would not be an ‘equal fight,’ Larson joked that he may want security to break the fight even before a driver gets to his car. Moreover, he added,

“I don’t foresee myself ever being in a situation like that. I think everybody probably understands it’s not gonna be an equal fight with me so they’ll end up looking bad. Because I’m a little fella.”

Usually battling it out in the front row, Kyle Larson is no stranger to on-track rivalries. Moreover, during the Cup Series race in Las Vegas last season, the Hendrick Motorsports driver found himself entangled in an off-track fight with 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace. After an on-track tussle which saw both the drivers getting spun out, Wallace got out of his car, marched towards Larson, and shoved him multiple times before track officials intervened and separated the two.

While explaining how he is not inherently a fighter, Larson shared his take on handling racing conflicts. He said,

“I can’t see a scenario where I’m ever gonna like be in the mood to fight or want to fight. So, I feel like competitors would probably know that as they come over, I am not gonna fight…probably not gonna fight back. So, I don’t really know if that matters or anything but I am not a fighter.”
