It was an absolute disappointment and heartbreak for Kevin Harvick. The 2014 Cup Series champion was ruled out of one final championship contention as he walked towards the sunset zone of his racing career. The No. 4 driver had been struggling with his No. 4 Ford throughout the regular season; however, this struggle reached a tipping point on Sunday at Bristol. The 2014 Champion, who was five laps down, finished P29 in the race and was relegated below the cutline, marking his elimination from the Round of 12.
Having said that, very few NASCAR drivers have the experience that Kevin Harvick does. After being in the NASCAR paddock for more than two decades, the veteran driver has witnessed the sport evolve and take shape into what it is today. In this long and illustrious career, creating memories has been an integral part. Owing to this, the retiring driver took a moment and walked down memory lane to share one such past incident.

Kevin Harvick swims in nostalgia after his recent interview
Victories and defeats have gone hand-in-hand for the Stewart Haas Racing driver, and the 2023 season was one such instance. Although he was eluded from a victory in his final season, the driver made sure he ran within the top 10 of every race. While in some he was able to succeed, in others it was just a setback, and the Bristol Night Race happened to be one such instance.
Nevertheless, his journey as a professional racer might come to a halt after the 2023 season, but he has a truckload of memories to cherish those racing days. As a result, Kevin Harvick sat down in an interview as he tried to remember the incidents from the past after taking a glimpse of those captured moments. In one such instance, the driver was shown a photograph of him and his son Keelan Harvick in their toddler days sleeping on the couch.

Reminiscing the old days, Harvick expressed, “I’m sure I’m just trying to sleep. Delana is probably over Keelan and at that particular point, but I would guess that’s a rain delay. We took Keelan from the day he was pretty much born to the racetrack. So he’s always been around the racetrack in the motor home.”

“If it was a rain delay, he was most likely up, if it was time to go, he was most likely up and then I would walk out and he’d stand at the gate at the front door. He’d raise Cain, scream, holler. He’d go full rage at the baby gate as I walked out the door and I just had to leave, otherwise, it would get worse. But that’s a pretty typical, pretty typical moment in young Keelan’s days”, he further added.

The retiring driver rules out one possibility in the second half of his life
With that being said, after hanging his helmet after the 2023 season, Kevin Harvick is ready to take up life as a NASCAR analyst for FOX and also take charge of KHI Management, a sports management agency that he owns.
As a result, Harvick, in his appearance at an interview with The Athletic, was asked, “You must pick one chore or obligation to do every day for a year. But if you do it every day for a year, you never have to do it again for the rest of your life. So what would you like to knock out forever?”
To this, the driver retorted, “If I never had to sit in another Zoom meeting again, that would be really, really good. I sit in more meetings now than I probably ever have in my whole life. So if I could figure out how to just do every meeting for one year and then never have to do another meeting again, I’d be perfectly content with that.”
