NASCAR named him among the 50 Greatest NASCAR drivers of all time. They inducted him into the NASCAR Hall of Fame but he still received heartbreaking treatment from for the team he raced for so many years. The disrespect for a legend like Mark Martin is just astounding.

Mark Martin never won the NASCAR Cup Series, but he wasn’t far from winning it. He won 40 Cup Series races, finished 2nd five times, and 3rd four times. An incredible record at the top of NASCAR racing, while racing in an era that had legends like Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon as competitors.
His longest stint with a team was with Roush Fenway Racing. Between 1988 and 2004, he raced for the team bringing them 5 IROC Championship wins, among his many other race victories. Undoubtedly he is a legend of NASCAR and a major part of Roush Fenway (now-Keselowski) history.
Martin’s 18 years at RF Racing ended in a bitter manner. While no credible sources of a rift came up, there were strong rumors that his friendship with owner Jack Roush had led to his exit from the team. The previously inseparable Roush and Martin quickly became rivals too. Martin joined Roush’s biggest rivals, Hendrick Motorsports a couple of seasons later – and was causing a lot of damage to Roush’s racing ambitions with his incredible performances.
The unsaid rift recently came up again. Mark was being honored by the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He received a lot of support from fans of his racing, but none from the team that he helped build.

If there ever were doubts about a possible rift between Roush and Martin, there shouldn’t be too many doubts any longer.
Fans tear apart RFK Racing for treatment of Mark Martin
Martin posted a tweet about how disappointed he was with the fact that no one from the team was there to attend the event.
I was hoping to see some folks from @RFKracing today but never did. The fans response was overwhelming though. Thank you to each and every one of you. pic.twitter.com/doJXYd1a3t

For a legend of his stature, regardless of what the dispute was – he deserved better. 16 years after the dispute, at least this much would be the minimum expected from a team of RFK’s size and status.
