Is Hailie Deegan being overlooked, or do Creed and Mayer truly deserve their Haas Xfinity spots?

One of the biggest news stories to come out in NASCAR this season is Stewart Haas Racing’s split. Tony Stewart has decided to move on from owning a team in NASCAR and wants to focus on family and the NHRA. On the other hand, Gene Haas has decided to continue in NASCAR by running two Xfinity Series and one Cup Series charters.

So far, there have been talks about Hailie Deegan joining the team after she ended things with AM Racing. However, it looks like Gene Haas had other plans, as they signed Sheldon Creed and Sam Mayer for their Xfinity Series teams. The news was delivered in a recent press conference with NASCAR as Creed and Mayer took the stage to talk about their future.

With Cole Custer taking the Cup Series seat and the team’s new Xfinity lineup, fans expect a lot from the Haas Factory Team. As of now, Stewart Haas Racing dropped from 4 Cup Series charter to just one, and as Gene Haas explained, “Operating a four-car Cup Series team has become too arduous, but, at the same time, I still need a platform to promote Haas Automation and grow HaasTooling.com.”

The team started back in 2002 under the name Haas CNC Racing after sponsoring Hendrick Motorsports for a while. Stewart Haas joined NASCAR in 2009 by acquiring 50% of the stakes in the team, and after 14 years of partnership, he has decided to make an exit from NASCAR. Before making the announcement of signing the drivers, Gene Haas had mentioned wanting Hailie Deegan to join the team; however, after the announcement, she still remains without a seat for 2025.

What did the Haas Factory Team say about Hailie Deegan?

Hailie Deegan and AM Racing split ways as they were both expecting a different outcome compared to how things are going now. AM Racing decided to give her seat to Joey Logano, who will be continuing with the team for the rest of the season. When Joe Custer heard about Deegan being dismissed from the team, he had a few things to say about the former No. 15 Mustang driver.

Custer, who is in charge of driver hires spoke about Deegan’s situation and said, “Obviously, she was with one of our technical partners. So that’s a challenge, right? To see what the future holds for her. We believe there’s more in her, and we want to be part of that, but that’s for future conversations.”

The team expressed interest in bringing her on board, but after the recent conference, it became clear that they had decided to go another way. With that said, we might not get to see Hailie Deegan in a car in 2025.
