During the NASCAR season finale at Phoenix, Joey Logano eventually emerged as the champion. However, there was plenty of action involving the other championship 4 contenders. Chief among them were Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain. Sometime during the race, the two of them tangled and Elliott wound up as the big loser. This was because he ended up getting hooked and spinning towards the inside wall. The incident pretty much startled Dale Earnhardt Jr and he gave his take on it.

He said, “Chastain gave him no brakes there, Chastain is underneath him right here. The #9 comes across his nose and Chastain holds his ground. Chastin had a choice and he could have lifted, he could have went even further to the left. Said he wasn’t going to do that, really just held the wheel straight, said if you want to spin yourself off the nose of my car, it’s not my fault. That’s the way he will view this, Chase will probably be aggravated that he didn’t cut him a break.”

Where did Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain finish the race?
Of course, the spin and crash heavily hampered Elliott’s race. So he spent a large portion of the race languishing at the back of the pack. Eventually though, he was able to muster up 28th place, which must have been disappointing for the #9 driver. Meanwhile, things did look a little better for Chastain, as he ended his race in third place.
Safe to say, he could have been the closest challenger to Joey Logano, except he had to dispatch Ryan Blaney first. Finally, Christopher Bell ended the day in 10th place for Joe Gibbs Racing. Now, Logano can rest on his laurels for now, while the other drivers will simply have to work harder and try again in the 2023 season.
