The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington saw Chase Elliott and Kyle Busch coming to blows on track, which resulted in Elliott’s DNF. Sometimes after walking out of the car, Elliott waited for Busch to come around and promptly gave him the one-finger salute. Much later, during an interview, the Hendrick Motorsports driver came clean about his actions and argued that he did not regret the finger salute.

Elliott stated, “I think that (Busch) was trying to make a spot that wasn’t there. Much like I told him, I get that mistakes happen and that’s part of life. I get it, but he’s just not a guy that makes many mistakes. For me to be on the poor end of a rare mistake on his end, at the end of the day, is unfortunate for me and my team.”
While battling on track, Busch seemed to have pushed Elliott’s rear, sending the latter into a spin. Elliott‘s race got ruined in a wreck, while the Joe Gibbs Racing driver continued on. The Dawsonville native believed that Busch’s actions ruined the weekend for both him and his team.
Chase Elliott did not regret giving Kyle Busch the bird
Elliott was overtly upset over Busch’s actions. He decided it would best to convey his emotions regarding the same right there on the track. As Kyle Busch completed a round of the track, Elliott patiently waited to see his rival and then gave him the finger.

“I thought it was warranted, and he was deserving,” Elliott mentioned.
Further adding, “I don’t think (Busch) did it on purpose. I hate that I was on the rare end of a rare mistake on his end. For a guy who doesn’t make many, hated that it was me that took the blow.”
