In 2022, Kurt Busch will move from Chip Ganassi Racing to 23XI Racing. Of course, this also means that there is an inevitable meeting with co-owner Michael Jordan to look forward to. Without a doubt, the 2004 Cup Series champion will be a valuable addition to the 1-year-old outfit.

Recently, Busch spoke about his first meeting with NBA legend, Jordan. He said, “I mean he is the GOAT. The situation, the way it all came together, it was this impressive meeting out in Sonoma earlier this summer. Right away, I got along with him. Just with the way he was chill but also presented this aura about him. ‘We will win. We are here to win. This is what this is about. And it was like, ‘Yes sir.’ He’s like, ‘Don’t call me sir.’ I said, ‘Alright, let’s win.’”

What can 23XI Racing expect from Kurt Busch?

Busch confessed that his sponsor, Monster Energy, is hugely excited about this deal. It is also worth noting that his appointment is largely down to the efforts of Toyota, who wanted a veteran driver in the program. Of course, the 43-year-old is eager to work under the NBA legend next season.

It also helps that he has raced for a number of legendary owners in the NASCAR arena. This includes Stewart-Haas Racing, Team Penske, and most recently, the Chip Ganassi Racing.

Additionally, he seems to be having a decent relationship with new teammate Bubba Wallace. He confessed that he is looking forward to testing the Next-Gen car and sharing his data with Wallace. Kurt Busch is aware that there are plenty of team members who are ready and willing to learn from his experience. In turn, he is also keen to impart his knowledge to their benefit, as well as that of Bubba Wallace’s.
