Back in 2012, during the Atlanta Nationwide race, there was a bit of a controversy. Sometime during the race, Brad Keselowski appeared to throw a bottle out of his car. That pretty much triggered a caution, much to the dismay of Kevin Harvick. This was because he was leading the race at the time, and the caution compromised his race. In the end, he could only muster third place, while Keselowski finished 2nd behind Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Harvick said in the post-race news conference, “Well, the run was really good. Obviously, it wasn’t what NASCAR wanted, so we kept throwing cautions for things. Just one of those deals, the car that cause the caution, pushed the car to win the race by us. We weren’t able to get by, but what do you do? It’s pretty obvious, they put it on TV and showed when the caution came out the same lap. He told me after the race, he said he’d never thrown the water bottle out. You know what that means, so. He told me it was intentional, so it is what it is, so sleep good tonight.”

Brad Keselowski tried to defend himself amid accusations by Kevin Harvick

Safe to say, the then Richard Childress Racing driver was in a very snarky mood. Unfortunately for Keselowski, he did not make things easier for himself in the press conference. According to him, the water bottle went out around 15-20 laps before the caution came out. Keselowski claimed that he did not know which lap that the bottle was thrown out. So it baffled him about claims that the water bottle had caused the yellow flags to be thrown.

Of course, he openly confessed to throwing the water bottle and revealed that he flung out at least three. According to him, it was something that he had been doing every race and would continue to do it. Naturally, this incident pretty much-soured things between the pair.
