With a few races down, the NASCAR Cup Series, in its glorious 75th year, is on a roll. As much as fans are enjoying the grand event, all the action on track has kept the drivers striving for more. But unfortunately, not every driver is having a season worth cherishing. As for Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney, the Daytona 500 was possibly the only highlight of his season so far where he finished 8th. Seeing this, Kyle Petty did not hesitate to take a dig at him, which apparently did not go well with the NASCAR fans.
Though there are a lot of uncertainties in any race, drivers try to give their best. After all, who doesn’t want to see their name shining at the top? The 29-year-old, who is believed to have great potential, managed to earn his spot in the top ten in the Daytona 500 but not in other races of 2023. Once Petty’s comments came to the light, NASCAR fans could not resist, but aggressively reacted to the comments from the former driver.

In an interview on the NASCAR NBC podcast, Kyle Petty shared his thoughts on Blaney’s recent outings. And fans were clearly not happy with what he had to say.
Daniel McFadin, a NASCAR Writer at Frontstretch wrote on Twitter, “Listening to the new @NASCARonNBC podcast. @kylepetty says “Ryan Blaney is the new Kasey Kahne. Potential unfulfilled. Everybody wants to talk about what he can do, but he never does anything.” Thoughts? #NASCAR.”

This may be Petty’s version of looking at Blaney, but fans think otherwise. Drawing comparisons between Blaney, Kasey Kahne, and Kyle Petty himself, fans had their own conclusions. Avid fans were smart enough to compare scores and timelines of all three and rather feel Blaney needs to be more visible. Look at what fans have to say.
It sounds like Kyle Petty is talking about his own career. 🤦🏻♂️

Also Kahne wrecked a lot early due to over aggressiveness. Blaney is docile. Jeff Burton / Bobby LaBonte vibes

How many races has Kyle Petty won?? Less than Kasey Kahne. Am I right or am I wrong?? Give Kasey some respect. Also Blaney still has many years to get wins. Show him some respect too. Oh wait Blaney also has more wins than Kyle Petty. That makes this even funnier. 😆

It's all about timing, Richard petty doesn't win 200 races in the 90s and 2000s, Dale Jr wins multiple championships if he raced in the 80s and 90s. Blaney would consistently lap his dad if they raced in the same Era.

I've seen many really good, truly talented, drivers not meet their full potential. It may be funding, equipment, personnel or personality clashes. I've seen it all. It's more than just about talent, it's opportunity and having the right people around you. That's my thoughts.

Trying to create drama where none is needed.

Well, if anyone knows about potential unfulfilled, it's Kyle Petty. You can consider that expert testimony.
Kyle Petty = 8 Cup victories in 30 seasons
Kasey Kahne = 18 Cup victories in 15 seasons
Ryan Blaney = 7 Cup wins in 7 seasons plus- ?Kyle should stick to cycles + camps.

How many wins & Championships did Kyle have?Ryan is just getting started. Kyle needs to go sit down & be quiet. He’s embarrassing himself.

Kasey Kahne won 18 races and 3 Coca Cola 600s and a Brickyard 400. Petty makes him sound like Danica

At the race in Fontana, the day did not go as Blaney must have planned it. There was something or the other happening at the track. The location suffered from rough weather and there was chaos. It was already difficult for drivers to perform their best given the circumstances. As the NASCAR fans were cheering for their favorite drivers, Kyle Busch‘s stunt affected the Team Penske driver.
As Rowdy was trying to make a three-wide pass for third position, he couldn’t overtake Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman and Ryan Blaney. But in the process, Rowdy came in contact with Blaney and scraped some paint off the #12. Blaney was irritated by Kyle Busch He was clearly not happy with what Busch did to move ahead. But that was not all. Blaney was also blamed for an intruder’s death at the track. The intruder was a black cat that wandered onto the track by mistake and unfortunately, such an incident is not in anyone’s control.

It may be a lack of sheer luck or the right opportunities for Blaney at this point in time. But he has a long way to go, and in the meantime, he has earned a place for himself in the sport.
