Dale Jr. and Amy dated for six years until 2015 when Dale Jr. proposed to her while they were on a vacation to Germany. The couple finally tied the knot in 2017 on New Year’s Eve. Their wedding took place at a perfect venue thanks to RCR owner Richard Childress. It was held at his vineyard in Lexington, North Carolina.

When you have been with a person as long as Dale and Amy have been, you know every minute detail about them. All their quirks, weird habits, and of course the reasons for why they behave the way they do. In a gutsy move, as Dale Jr. invited his wife to the recent Dale Jr. Download podcast, Amy revealed so much more, including the real reasons behind Jr.’s superstitions.

One of Dale Jr.’s superstitions is incomplete chores. Junior spoke about how if he leaves a chore incomplete, it haunts him for the rest of the day. He said, “Say you are doing something around the house and you’ll cut a corner or do something lazy in that process, and you’ll mind will say. You better go back and do that the right way, or you put that where it belongs.” To explain his belief better, he gave an example of a towel.

According to him, if he just leaves the towel lying on the table, his mind will constantly remind him to go back and fold it. His wife was quick to reply that what he did at home was contradictory to his belief. She said, “That’s interesting to know considering you leave the pretzels out on the counter.”

Dale Jr. had his justifications ready for the pretzel story. According to him, he had the thought of keeping them out, constantly in the back of his mind. While Amy Earnhardt was quick to put an end to this as she said, “He just likes my intention. So it doesn’t matter if it’s positive or negative; we’re just gonna do things like that.”

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dale Jr. just being superstitious, or does Amy really bring him bad luck on the track?

As Amy discussed the shopaholic Dale, she said, “He just recently bought a bunch of candy that I intercepted, and he’s constantly all those nerd gummy things. He bought a giant box full of them. I’m like what you gonna do with that. I’m gonna hide that in my computer room. He sits in there and eats his candy.”
