In this week’s iteration of The Dale Jr. Download podcast, co-host Mike Davis took a diversion from the regular format and invited Dale Earnhardt Jr’s wife, Amy Earnhardt to come in for a lively chat. The topic of discussion was, unsurprisingly, Dale Jr and his idiosyncrasies.

The 2x Xfinity Series champion wasn’t in time to begin the recording—perhaps by design. Mike welcomed Amy and initiated a funny conversation by asking if Amy finds any discrepancies between how Junior recounts incidents from his life on the podcast and how such incidents actually take place.

Right at the beginning of the conversation, Mike said that for once, he wanted to hear Amy’s side of things, and considering that Junior was late, it was the perfect opportunity.

“The next 15 minutes—Amy Earnhardt Uninterrupted,” he said, further inquiring, “Dale Jr told me the other day that you will listen to The Dale Jr. Download or catch a video on social and you’ll see or hear him tell a story, and you’re like, ‘that is not how it happened!'”

“Hundred percent,” Amy replied instantly.

She continued, “He likes to embellish […] He will do it in your presence, knowing that you know the story, just to get more of a reaction.

“That’s just who he is.”

She gave Junior the credit by saying that he wants everyone to be entertained, so he exaggerates things. This was the moment where Mike interrupted and said, “Or, or, he has a warped sense of reality!”

Amy, with a hampered tone, agreed, “Well that’s probably true too.”

It was a weekday. Amy called Dale and said, “Meet me at the theatre in Berkdale,” without giving any further details. On reaching the spot, Amy accompanied him and they started walking. Curiosity kept Dale Jr making guesses as he asked Amy whether it was about movies, sushi bars, etc. Finally, Amy said, “We are going in,” pointing toward a cryo therapy center.

Dale asked Amy “What’s keiro [sic] therapy?”

“It’s an Ice chamber, you have been telling me you wanna do an ice bath,” Amy answered.

Junior hummed, “Na uh!” while Amy nudged him in, “We are going in.”

Both Amy and Dale signed in and underwent cryo therapy together. When Mike heard that, “Oh My God!” was his response.

Amy replied, “We didn’t quit.”
