Before Ross Chastain became the celebrated driver he is today, he had already shown signs of determination and resilience. Although Chastain had achieved a total of 9 victories in NASCAR, there was a time when the Trackhouse Racing driver could only dream of this.

In a 14-year-old resurfaced interview, Chastain is seen reminiscing about his championship win at Charlotte County Motorsports Park. The interviewer fondly calls it a “hard fight,” and Chastain wholeheartedly agrees, reflecting on the challenges of the season. He emphasized, “That was a hard fight all season I mean we traveled around and then it kind of fell apart we had some guys break away but we’re able to hang on for the championship it was a long year.”

Despite some setbacks, he managed to win the championship, proving his mettle even at a young age.

When asked about the upcoming 200-lap race in the interview, young Ross Chastain admits that it will be his first time racing in a truck for such a long distance. He mentioned, “Well no it’s my first race in the truck over 50 laps. I mean we’re in the late model couple times 100 laps but nothing in the truck over 50. So we’ll see.”

Having previously competed in late models, he acknowledges the significant difference in handling the trucks. Ross said, “Yeah, I mean the late models are so much easier to drive and these things are just you really have to fight them. And then 200 laps there’s gonna be a long race.” Undeterred by the task ahead, Chastain confidently geared up for the demanding 200-lap race.
