During the recent NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega, 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace ended up collecting Joey Logano and several other drivers. Looking at the footage, one can see that Wallace had turned the Penske driver into the wall, who then ricocheted back from it to hit the pack behind him.

Now, one would assume that Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft must’ve let him know what’s the situation around him before he made the move.

And that is precisely what the spotter revealed in the recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast. However, the revelation wasn’t all that direct as it came after a fan suggested something pretty brutal to Kraft and his driver.

“Freddie, if you need, give me a call, I know some sign language. We can work on getting you some proficient sign language. Because it seems like Bubba (Wallace) is deaf, doesn’t know how to use his ears to listen,” the fan said. “So you can sign to him to hear, to see a spotter now that you’re going to be signing to him so he doesn’t run over (Joey) Logano.”

This led to Kraft revealing what he said to Wallace ‘in the moment’.

“I said, ‘Tight, tight, tight. Keep pushing,” the spotter said of his radio message to his driver.

Upon hearing this, TJ Majors, another spotter, mentioned a similar incident from the race in Atlanta as he followed it up with the question, “Damn, he doesn’t listen, does he?”

“No, he don’t listen to me. That’s a known fact,” Kraft conceded.

Bubba Wallace is “pretty patient”, Joey Logano said before the Talladega race

In an interview leading up to the race in Talladega, Joey Logano had made some comments about Bubba Wallace and his development as a racecar driver on superspeedways.

“I’d say he’s a fairly patient speedway racer, where he makes moves every now and again, but most of the time, he’s pretty patient on kind of letting the race come to him,” Logano had said.

The Penske driver added, “He used to be a lot more aggressive, make moves, and a lot of times they didn’t work. They weren’t fully calculated and made him honestly fairly easy to beat.”

Now, these comments didn’t necessarily come back to bite Logano, but they didn’t align either with the actions of the 23XI Racing driver in the race to come.
