Few drivers have attracted as much interest as Natalie Decker has in the lightning-fast world of NASCAR. Decker has forged her unique route, encouraging aspiring racers and shattering stereotypes along the way with her remarkable driving skills, unbreakable attitude, and appealing social media presence. And as it happens, she derives inspiration from the Busch Light Clash winner.

The 26-year-old’s love for speed and racing first emerged on go-kart tracks, competing in numerous regional races She went on to win the 2013 ARCA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year title after converting her early enthusiasm into success with full-sized race cars. She made history in the 2020 season at Daytona with her P5 finish being the highest placing by a female driver in the Craftsman Truck Series. She made further progress in 2021 by joining a select group of the very few female drivers to ever compete in the Xfinity Series.

Nevertheless, Decker’s journey hasn’t been without difficulties. Health concerns briefly sidelined her in 2020, but her unshakable spirit propelled her to make a comeback. The Wisconsin native continued to compete in eight Xfinity races till her last outing at the Alsco Uniforms 200 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2023.

As Decker sets her sights on 2024, she looks to be drawing inspiration from Denny Hamlin‘s “attitude and personality.”  In a recent Twitter post, she wrote, “Goals for 2024… have a @dennyhamlin attitude and personality,” drawing both support and criticism from fans.

Opinions flooded her post, with some emphasizing the obstacles Decker must face to match Hamlin’s abilities. A fan jokingly brought up the duo’s lack of Cup titles, replying, “At least you have the same number of championships!” Referring to the fact that the duo have raced in NASCAR for more than 40 years combined but have not won any championship trophies.

But Denny Hamlin, Decker’s 2024 ‘role model’, retweeted her initial statement with grace, declaring, “Haters are admirers ND.”

Hamlin, one of the most polarizing figures in NASCAR has been no stranger to naysayers and that is exactly the case for the young Xfinity driver as well.
